The following are the clubs working under SNAS to exploit students talents

SOFTWARE CLUB

The Software club mainly focuses on providing workshops and webinars to improve the student's proficiency in domain-specific software. This ensures that no students of the Department of Ship Technology will be left behind while the industry is progressing at a rapid pace. The software club utilizes the infrastructure provided in the department.

 Objectives of Software Club :
  • Developing a skilled naval architect proficient enough in all the necessary software

SOFT SKILL CLUB

The Soft Skill Club focuses mainly on providing strong practical orientation to the students and helps them to build and improve their skills in communication, the effective use of English, business correspondence, presentations, team building, leadership, time management, group discussions, interviews, and interpersonal skills. The club under SNAS plans to conduct several interactive classes with students and many industrialists, which will help the students to gain confidence and give the motive to think and work on many new technologies which are favourable for mankind. The prime function of SNAS is the utilization of department and alumni resources effectively for the development of students. Soft skill club can provide a major contribution to this by connecting alumni with the students and providing an open interactive section between them.

Objectives of Soft Skills Club :

•    By the end of the soft skills training program, the students should be able to:
•    Develop effective communication skills (spoken and written).
•    Develop effective presentation skills.
•    Conduct effective business correspondence and prepare business reports which produce  results.
•    Become self-confident individuals by mastering inter-personal skills, team management skills, and leadership skills.
•    Develop all-round personalities with a mature outlook to function effectively in different circumstances.
•    Develop broad career plans, evaluate the employment market, identify the organizations to get good placement, match the job requirements and skill sets.
•    Take part effectively in various selection procedures adopted by the recruiters

ENVIRONMENT CLUB

The environmental club was established so that students can be involved in improving the current conditions of the environment through projects such as recycling, informing their peers and helping the community. The environmental club helps to create an exceptionally good understanding in the minds of every student about the importance of the environment and create an opportunity to do something favourable for the environment. Another focus of the environmental club is to conduct several webinars and discussions on the innovation of new eco-friendly technologies and how to use the existing technologies eco-friendly.

 Objectives of Environment Club :     

  • To raise awareness among students so that they understand environmental issue
  • To install a sense of responsibility for the environment and a personal commitment to  protect and preserve the environment.
  • To educate and cultivate an appreciation and interest in the environment

ARTS CLUB

The Arts Club was established to discover the hidden talents in the students and to help them by providing a medium to express them. The club aims to improve their talent by providing more training, more competitions etc. SNAS always gives importance to the Arts and such skills of each student. So, the club will try to pay more attention to find such talents among the students, helping them to develop their talents and skills, and provide them opportunities to prove themselves by conducting a lot of events, workshops, competitions etc. The club will make sure such talents are not wasted or gone unnoticed, due to their heavy and busy academic life.

 Objectives of Arts Club :

  • Competitions will be held for all art enthusiastic students
  • Many interested students from within the club are putting their best foot forward to teach the underprivileged children, art skills
  • We aim at raising the bar of art in the Department of Ship Technology and let the creativity of art unfold with time

SPORTS CLUB 

 

The Sports Club was established to take care of the physical abilities, skills and talents of the students. Students who are always busy due to their busy academic life, may not have time to give attention to their physical wellness, hidden skills and talents in different fields of sports. The club will try to focus on finding talents in different games, developing them, a great team of sportsmen. They will be provided opportunities to put their talents to use, develop their strength and prove themselves, outside the academic life. Also, the physical health and wellness of each student will be taken care of by the club, so that students won’t be physically unwell because of their busy academic life. They will be made to work out, exercise and be relaxed, to keep them fresh, energetic and healthy always.

Objectives of Sports Club

  • To conduct tournaments and leagues to promote importance of physical activity among students, faculties and alumni.
  • To conduct workshops on importance and awareness of physical health

Sports Club Inauguration

Congratulations to the winners of the SNAS IPL FEVER 2021!!! The SNAS Sports Club's Inauguration & IPL FEVER 2021 prize distribution ceremony was conducted on May 16th (Sunday). The chief guest for the event was Mr. Dijoy Divakaran (26th batch alumnus DoST,  also Mentor-MAST Cricket Team). The event was conducted via virtual meeting application. Computer Aided Design and 3D Printing

SNAS Software club is conducting eight-hour training programme on Computer Aided Design. Following topics are expected to cover in the programme. 2D Drafting 3D Modelling Drafting techniques for ship design Introduction to 3D printing The training programme is free and is only for students of Dept. of Ship Technology. The training programme is aimed at equipping students with software skills that will enable them to face industrial world confidently. Special emphasis on 3D modelling of ships is expected to produce innovative designs and models from Model Making Workshops during course curriculum. The classes are led by student members of SNAS who have undergone similar training and certification.

WEBINAR - "Design of Underwater Vehicles"

  SNAS conducted the 9th episode of the Webinar Series on the topic "Design of Underwater Vehicles" on 20th of October, 2021. The Webinar was taken by Cmde PHM Salih (Retd.) , (3rd Batch Alumnus of DoST), Head Submarine Design, L&T Defence and Aerospace. The interactive session dealt with Submarine Designing and various parameters to be considered in designing an Underwater Vehicle. An elaborate QnA session was held after the presentation, clarifying the doubts of the audience on various insights shared during the webinar.
